Architect Leila Dunning’s brief was to completely redesign the reception area of publicity group MullenLowe’s head offices in the middle of London. She was given a number of objectives to include a number of different functions (reception, canteen, meetings and individual workspaces), while ensuring continuous, uniform acoustic comfort throughout the volume, which also had to be impactful in keeping with MullenLowe’s brand image.

The desired outcome was to create strong feelings of community, belonging, exclusivity, comfort and privacy, so choosing the right acoustic solution was crucial. “Abso Cubes provided us with the perfect solution”, says Leila. “They’re easy to install and move around. As well as the comfort we needed, they enable us to build a landscape on the ceiling, which contrasts with the architectural formality of the building, and makes an aesthetic statement. And, because they are installed in clusters, there is room for subsequent spatial changes. Lastly, we paid special attention to durability. Abso Cubes are manufactured in Europe, they can be taken apart, easily cleaned and recycled.”
