In the group classrooms and individual instrument practice cubicles, acoustic curtains reduce sound reverberation from the glazed surfaces, while a combination of sound-absorbing and breathing Stereo panels house the lighting. Suspended at two different alternating heights the panels lessen the visual impact of technical networks and components, while bathing the area in soft light, creating a sense of warmth and the right degree of comfort. “Each room has its own colour”, adds architect Mathieu Nicol. The textile finishes therefore become a form of signage for the children and resonate in harmony with the building’s palette of colours. There are also booths with padded seats, where pupils can work without being disturbed by noise from the rest of the class, and these are covered with our Aeria textile in colours that coordinate with the panels.
