As the flex office concept gains popularity and places of work become increasingly scattered, modularity and flexible interior solutions have become the focus of architects’ attention, with the attendant requirement of acoustic quality. With these concerns firmly in mind, Crown Estate, the owner of Two Bessborough Street, called in architects Stiff + Trevillion to renovate the building and create work areas with a wide range of services.

To organise meeting areas in two of the five floors on offer, the architects chose to install double-sided acoustic curtains with a specific colour scheme on each floor: MR580 (Moutarde) and MR920 (Cumin) on one, and MR340 (Océan) and MR370 (Bleu menthe) on the other.  

As well as providing sound and visual comfort, these curtains make it possible to partition off one, two or three areas by simply drawing them, depending on the size, kind and number of participants. What clinched the choices of the designers was the zippers, which join one Texaa curtain to another. They provide greater modularity and flexibility. Since the curtains are not sewn together, the 1m50 widths can be joined or separate depending on the circumstances. Spaces can be very easily configured in real time according to users’ needs.
