The latest project is at Nimes Pont-du-Gard station in southern France, which has been operational since 15th December 2019. Designed to be a “garden station”, it is a transparent building that blends beautifully into the natural environment. As a sensory haven of peace from the weather and a crossroads for low-carbon travel, Nimes Pont-du-Gard station highlights the sustainability vision embraced by AREP, the multidisciplinary architecture unit and subsidiary of the French railways’ SNCF Gares & Connexions division.
Texaa’s Stereo acoustic panels panels (mother-of-pearl) constitute an acoustic ceiling made up of clusters suspended from the underside of the main hall floor. “They contribute to thermal comfort with their warm fabric appearance, while hiding the building structure with a pleasing aesthetic. The choice of the elegant, soothing mother-of-pearl (nacre) colour is a powerful promoter of travellers’ visual comfort”, explains Pascale Guénand, the AREP architect in charge of the project.
